Co-Ownership Agreements
Are you thinking of entering into a co-ownership agreement with a breeder? If so, we have one word of advise for you - "Think Twice". These agreements could be nothing more than a nightmare in disguise. There are some breeders who insist on co-owning your dog with you and before you agree to such restrictions, have a lawyer review the co-ownership contract with you. It could save you a world of grieve. I intend to write a full length article on this subject in the near future but in the meantime ask yourself this. Why does the breeder want to co-own this dog with me? What are the legal ramifications if things go wrong? Why is it other breeders do not insist on co-owning every puppy from the litter? So in the meantime, do your due diligence.
